Jasper Hotel
Nordic-Midwestern boutique. Warm, locally grounded, with floor-to-ceiling windows, Red River Valley color palettes (blue, gold, red accents), local artwork throughout, and a lobby that feels like a community living room. Not stiff or overly formal — there's a pool table, a jazz brunch, and a coffee bar.

Why It Matters
The best hotel downtown Fargo has ever had. Aparium's 'Translocal Hospitality' model means the food, design, and programming are genuinely local rather than chain-hotel generic. Rosewild restaurant functions as a real neighborhood spot, not just a hotel dining room. The 24/7 Nordic sauna is rare for the region. And the top-floor Gardner Suite has a record player stocked with vinyl.
The Jasper Hotel opened in June 2021 inside Fargo's 18-story RDO Tower — a new build that somehow doesn't feel new. The Nordic-inspired design tips a hat to the Norwegian settlers who shaped this part of the Great Plains, with a warm lobby full of locally curated art, Faribault Woolen Mill blankets on every bed, and blue-and-gold room accents meant to evoke prairie sunsets. It's named after Jasper B. Chapin — Fargo's third mayor and the city's original hotelier — and the hotel leans hard into that origin story. Part of Chicago's Aparium Hotel Group, which specializes in building genuine upscale hotels in cities the industry tends to ignore.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The hotel sits directly adjacent to Broadway Square, a four-season community plaza. Summer brings a splash pad, greenery area, and stage with regular live performances. Winter brings an ice skating rink. More than 270 annual events are programmed in the square.
The 5th-floor Continental Ballroom and sweeping outdoor terrace totals over 6,000 square feet and handles up to 250 guests. Named after Jasper Chapin's original Continental Hotel. The terrace has panoramic views of Broadway Street. Primarily for weddings, corporate events, and private functions. Also includes the Great Northern boardroom for smaller gatherings.
A pool table in the lobby lounge area adds to the comfortable, sociable feel of the ground floor. Multiple guests have called it out specifically as a highlight of the vibe.
Occasional ticketed special event dinners, such as multi-course beer pairing evenings with local breweries like Drekker Brewing. Ticketed via Eventbrite. Not a regular weekly event — check the hotel's social media for upcoming dates.
Local jazz musicians perform in the lobby bar area every Saturday during brunch service (10am–2pm). The music is live but not overpowering — people actually get up and dance. Reserve via OpenTable.
