Jupiter Hotel
Indie rock meets mid-century motor lodge (Original); modern urban boutique with city views (NEXT). Alternative, lively, community-driven. Very Portland.
All check-ins happen at Jupiter NEXT (900 E. Burnside), even if you're staying at the Original — don't show up to the wrong building
Why It Matters
One of the defining hotels of Portland's Central Eastside music and arts scene. The Original was famously positioned as the go-to crash pad for touring musicians — it sits directly above the Doug Fir Lounge, a renowned live music venue. Travel + Leisure called it 'the rock star–worthy Jupiter Hotel' and Condé Nast Traveler readers have given it repeat recognition.
The Jupiter is actually two side-by-side properties sharing a brand on Portland's Central Eastside: the Jupiter Original, a 1960s motor lodge converted into a 81-room indie rock boutique hotel, and the Jupiter NEXT, a 67-room modern six-floor tower with city views next door at 900 E. Burnside. Think wall-sized music murals, chalkboard doors, and the award-winning cocktail bar Hey Love on the ground floor of the NEXT. Luxury is not the point here — character is.
