Karl August is a 120-room design boutique hotel built at the heart of the Augustinerhof district, a pedestrianized mixed-use complex developed by the Schmelzer family between Nuremberg's Old Town and the River Pegnitz. The hotel leans hard into the neighborhood concept: its French brasserie, all-day café, ice cream bar, and one-Michelin-star chef's table restaurant are all open to the public, making it as much a destination for locals as for guests. Rooms are minimalist with parquet floors, concrete accents, and bathrooms stocked with Retterspitz products — a traditional Nuremberg brand — and the top-floor skyfinity pool with skylight views over the city rooftops is genuinely unlike anything else in town.
