Why It Matters
Houses the two Michelin-starred JY's restaurant (Chef Jean-Yves Schillinger) and operates a 500m² spa with an indoor 15x4m pool. One of very few 5-star hotels in Alsace, and the only one in central Colmar.
L'Esquisse is Colmar's only 5-star hotel, and it earns that designation without leaning on the city's famously quaint old-town charm. The hotel sits on the edge of the Champ de Mars park — green and calm — not wedged into a half-timbered alley. Inside, the design pays tribute to Auguste Bartholdi, Colmar's most celebrated sculptor: marble floors, copper accents, and a giant copper mask greeting you at the KBar. The 62 rooms all open onto private balconies or terraces. And here's the real kicker: the two Michelin-starred restaurant JY's by Chef Jean-Yves Schillinger operates out of the ground floor, making this genuinely one of the strongest hotel-restaurant combinations in eastern France.

Bicycle hire available at the property. Colmar is flat and the surrounding Alsace wine route is highly cycle-friendly.
Exclusive private hire of the entire spa from 8pm to 9pm, including champagne and sweet and savory treats. Must be booked up to 7 days in advance directly with reception. Hotel guests only.
One Saturday per month, the KBar hosts a gourmet tea time: sweet and savory snacks plus a signature tea-based mocktail created by the in-house barman. €39 per person. Reservations recommended.
First Sunday of each month only. Buffet brunch with seafood, Alsatian specialties, pastries, and hot dishes. Family-friendly.
A guided private exploration of hidden artworks and unique design details inspired by Alsace throughout the hotel's public spaces. Part of the MGallery 'M Moment' signature experience — follows with a spa session. Book through the hotel.
