Why It Matters
A classified historic monument built in 1609, with one of Alsace's most extraordinary Renaissance façades. Restaurant Girardin holds a Michelin star and seats barely 14 people. The combination of serious gastronomy, heritage architecture, and polished 5-star rooms in the center of Colmar is rare at this level.
A 5-star hotel lodged inside a listed Renaissance landmark from 1609, named for the 106 grotesque sculpted heads covering its extraordinary façade. Owners Chef Éric Girardin and Marilyn Tanguy Girardin took over and stripped the interior back to a clean, modern minimalism — then filled it with a Michelin-starred gastronomic restaurant, a lively brasserie, and 21 individually designed rooms. The building itself is the draw, but the food is why people come back.
