Lares de Chacras
Rustic-chic country house. Andean stone walls, wood-beam ceilings, whitewashed rooms, indigenous artwork, crackling stone fireplace. Homey without being dowdy.
Ask for a room upgrade to one with a fireplace — some rooms have their own working fireplace, not just access to the lobby one.
Why It Matters
One of the few properties in Chacras de Coria with a MICHELIN Key. Has its own small Malbec vineyard (Viña Lares), serves guests daily tastings from the cellar, and runs a genuinely good restaurant. The stone fireplace lounge alone is worth arriving at dusk for.
A family-owned, 4-star boutique hotel in Chacras de Coria, about 25 minutes from central Mendoza. Built from Andean stone and local desert wood, the place has the feel of a proper country house — not a slick resort. There are up to 16 rooms across the main building and a separate guest house, a shaded outdoor pool with a hot tub, an on-site wine cellar stocked with their own Viña Lares Malbec (first harvested 2020), and a restaurant that earns genuine praise. The MICHELIN Guide awarded it 1 Key. It's not flashy, but everything that matters is done well.

Arranged excursions to the Mendoza River for rafting. The hotel is 30 km from the mountains.
There's a play room with a pool table next to the wine bar — a good spot to decompress after a day of tastings.
Daily complimentary tastings of the hotel's own Viña Lares Malbec, grown at their demonstration vineyard in Luján de Cuyo. First harvest was 2020. Held in the stone wine cellar.
The hotel's concierge arranges visits to nearby wineries. Pulmary Winery is a 3-minute walk; Weinert, Lagarde, Luigi Bosca, and Nieto Senetiner are all within 10 km. Staff can book transportation, tours, and barrel-side lunches.
