Why It Matters
One of the very few design-forward hotels in Biarritz with a genuine backstory. Part of the Experimental Group — the same people behind Regina Experimental next door. The building's century-old arched architecture is genuinely distinctive, and the Experimental Group's eye for interior design gives it a level of finish that most boutique hotels in this price band don't deliver.
A former Belle Époque carriage shed that briefly served as a private garage for the neighboring Regina Hotel's wealthy guests, then sat abandoned for decades before street artists took over its 900 sqm walls in 2018 for a street art exhibition called Colorama. Two years later, Experimental Group converted it into a 27-room boutique hotel. The arched facade and the industrial bones are all still there — terrazzo floors, raw concrete, custom Iroko and steel furniture — but where a gas pump once stood, there's now a heated pool bordered by palm trees. It opened in 2021 and has been pulling in design-minded surfers and golf weekenders ever since.

Hotel partners with Velektrix Biarritz and Maison Bicicletta for e-bike rental. Staff will advise on the best coastal rides and can make bookings. Good way to reach the various beaches (six of which hold Blue Flag status) without a car.
The hotel sits directly adjacent to the Golf de Biarritz Le Phare — a historic 18-hole course overlooking the ocean. Within a 100 km radius there are 16 courses in total. The hotel offers dedicated golf stay packages.
The centerpiece of the outdoor space. Heated, open daily from May to October. Surrounded by AMES Colombian-made eco-furniture — colorful handcrafted loungers and parasols. Pool menu available with snacks and cocktails delivered to your sunlounger. In summer, there's a DJ setup poolside.
During summer season, the pool deck hosts DJ sets. One of the more unusual touches for a 27-room boutique hotel.
Weekly Sunday brunch at Le Restaurant du Garage with live music, running noon–3pm. Open to guests and non-guests.
The hotel partners with local surf schools to organize lessons, camps, or self-guided surf trips along the Basque Coast. Côte des Basques and Grande Plage are easily accessible. Reception can arrange bookings and recommend the best current local partners and spots.
