Why It Matters
Holds exclusive Sensitive Area Resort (SAR) zoning — the only development of its kind in Moab allowing overnight vacation rentals in this location. Sits at 4,025 ft on the edge of Sand Flats with direct trail access to Mill Creek and Hells Revenge. Listed on both Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels.
Lionsback Resort is Moab's most ambitious luxury development — a growing collection of standalone casitas parked on 175 high-desert acres, right at the entrance to the 9,000-acre Sand Flats Recreation Area. The Slickrock Trail is practically at your back door. Phase 1 is open now with rentable Strata and Mesa casitas; the full hotel with restaurant, spa, and convention center is still proposed and subject to approvals. What you get today is a whole private home — not a hotel room — with Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, freestanding soaking tubs, outdoor hot tubs, and 360-degree views of the La Sal Mountains and Moab Rim. Downtown Moab is less than two miles away.

The Mesa runs 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms across approximately 2,100 sq ft, with a 5-piece primary bathroom featuring a spa-like wet room, freestanding soaking tub, and sliding door access to the outdoor hot tub area. The great room soars 13–18 ft under vaulted ceilings with Anderson Heritage multi-leaf sliding doors that open entirely to the desert outside. Oversized 2-car garage with EV charging. 360-degree views of La Sal Mountains, Moab Rim, and the Colorado River portal.

Spire Casita
The flagship. Up to ~3,000 sq ft in either a 3-bedroom + den or full 4-bedroom layout with 3.5 bathrooms. Architecture by Max Strang of Strang Design — airy open great rooms, large multi-leaf sliding doors, and private lots that blend into the surrounding landscape. All suites are ensuite with spa-like bathrooms and walk-in closets. The largest and most private option on the property, on expansive lots. Oversized 2-car garage wired for EV charging.

Strata Casita
The entry-level casita, but don't let 'entry-level' fool you. At roughly 1,600 sq ft across 1- or 2-story layouts, the Strata has 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, 14–20 ft vaulted wood ceilings, and an open great room that runs kitchen, living, and dining into one flowing space. The primary bath has a freestanding solid-surface soaking tub and wet room with sliding door access to the outdoor patio (hot tub designed-for but sold separately to owners). Two finish packages available: Dune (light) or Arroyo (dark). Oversized one-car garage with EV charging.

Direct on-property access to the Hells Revenge 4x4 trail — one of Moab's most celebrated off-road routes across slickrock terrain. No need to drive to a trailhead.
Direct on-site access to the Mill Creek Trail. On-property trail system also allows guests to roam and bike through the resort's 175 acres. Hiking trails in the broader Moab area range from 0.6 to 109 miles and 3,946 ft to 12,322 ft elevation.
The property sits 0.7 miles from Sand Flats Recreation Area, home to the world-famous Slickrock Bike Trail. Direct trailhead access without driving. Over 579 miles and 230+ trails in the Moab area ranging from beginner to expert.
The pool complex includes a 2,100 sq ft year-round pool, shared hot tub, cold plunge, yoga platform, community firepit, s'mores gathering area, and resort cabanas, all set against views of the La Sal Mountains and the iconic Lionsback rock formation. The 6,000+ sq ft pool deck makes it a proper gathering space. Available to all resort guests.
Dark Sky compliant lighting throughout the property — both to protect Moab's night sky designation and to give guests prime conditions for stargazing from their private patio or hot tub. Moab is one of the best stargazing destinations in the country.
