East Frankfurt
Community-first coliving hotel. Contemporary and art-forward, with an emphasis on shared spaces over in-room comfort. Deliberately anti-anonymous-business-hotel — closer in feel to a very well-designed student residence than a conventional four-star.

Why It Matters
Michelin Guide listed. GSTC-certified sustainability. Frankfurt's only fully vegan hotel dining concept. Impressive architecture and art curation for the price point. Genuinely functions as a community rather than just a hotel — mix of overnight guests and longer-term tenants coexist in communal spaces.
lyf East Frankfurt is a 100-room coliving hotel in the Ostend district that has been designed to make you actually want to stay in your hotel. The building by Franken Architekten has a glazed facade with cast-iron elements that nods to the industrial character of the neighborhood, while interiors by Studio Aberja pile on curated local contemporary art, Fennobed mattresses, and Bang & Olufsen sound systems. Rooms are genuinely compact — the smallest is 16 sqm — but the design intent is that you'll spend most of your time in one of the many named communal spaces: a library lounge, two fully-equipped communal kitchens, a co-working space, a launderette with lounge vibes, and a rooftop terrace with Frankfurt skyline views. The F&B program is 100% vegan, including a proper sit-down restaurant (Leuchtendroter), a cocktail bar (Marmion), and a lobby bakery. Opened originally as Lindley Lindenberg, it rebranded to lyf East Frankfurt in July 2024 under The Ascott Limited.
