Maison Italia 1029
Urban eco boutique. Industrial-minimalist design with warm native materials. Artistic, design-conscious crowd. Community-oriented — the onsite café hosts live music and is open to the public.
Ask for a room with an internal courtyard if noise is a concern — the street-facing terrace rooms get livelier at night.
Why It Matters
One of the few genuinely local boutique hotels in Santiago, founded and run by two Chilean sisters who were filling a gap in the design-and-travel scene. Listed in both the Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels. Solar panels cover 20% of the hotel's electricity. All rooms have private terraces or balconies. Adults-only property. The building itself is an architecture statement.
Maison Italia 1029 is a tiny, design-forward eco boutique hotel sitting right on Avenida Italia in Santiago's creative Barrio Italia neighborhood. Sisters Camila and Marion De Prada built it on the site of the historic Casa Werth, a early 20th-century house by architect Horacio Werth — but don't expect period rooms. Co2 Architects replaced most of the interior with a sharp modernist building that plays raw concrete and native materials against each other, keeping only the Republican-style facade. The result is a place that feels like someone's extremely well-curated home: intimate, design-obsessed, and genuinely social. It draws both local creatives and travelers who actually want to explore the neighborhood rather than just pass through it.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The building's ground floor houses independent design boutiques. Current tenants include Sol Pinto & Sergio Carreño (handcrafted silver, gold, and natural stone jewelry) and FIBRA (women's clothing sourced from Latin American designers). A couple of additional spaces are available for new tenants.
Complimentary bikes available for guests to explore Barrio Italia and beyond. The neighborhood is flat and has dedicated bike lanes, making this a genuinely useful amenity rather than a token one.
The ground-floor café occasionally hosts live artists. Not on a fixed schedule — check with the hotel or follow @maisonitalia1029 on Instagram for upcoming events.
Organizations and groups can reserve the entire hotel exclusively — all rooms, facilities, and staff. Used for corporate retreats, creative residencies, and private events. Contact contacto@maisonitalia1029.com for quotes.
