Insider Tip

Ask for a room with an internal courtyard if noise is a concern — the street-facing terrace rooms get livelier at night.

Why It Matters

One of the few genuinely local boutique hotels in Santiago, founded and run by two Chilean sisters who were filling a gap in the design-and-travel scene. Listed in both the Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels. Solar panels cover 20% of the hotel's electricity. All rooms have private terraces or balconies. Adults-only property. The building itself is an architecture statement.

Maison Italia 1029 is a tiny, design-forward eco boutique hotel sitting right on Avenida Italia in Santiago's creative Barrio Italia neighborhood. Sisters Camila and Marion De Prada built it on the site of the historic Casa Werth, a early 20th-century house by architect Horacio Werth — but don't expect period rooms. Co2 Architects replaced most of the interior with a sharp modernist building that plays raw concrete and native materials against each other, keeping only the Republican-style facade. The result is a place that feels like someone's extremely well-curated home: intimate, design-obsessed, and genuinely social. It draws both local creatives and travelers who actually want to explore the neighborhood rather than just pass through it.

Standard Room

Compact, minimalist rooms designed by Co2 Architects, blending raw concrete finishes with native materials. Warm rather than cold despite the modernist palette. Rooms are on the smaller side — comfortable for a couple but not roomy. Private bathroom with shower.

Standard Room with Balcony

A Standard Room with a private balcony rather than a full terrace. Sitting area for relaxing with views of the street or internal areas. Multiple guest reviews specifically call out the balcony as a highlight for watching neighborhood life with a glass of wine.

Standard Room with Terrace

Standard Room with Terrace

Same setup as the Standard Room but with a private green terrace — the hotel's signature feature. The terrace is planted with vegetation and is where breakfast delivery shines. Street-facing units may catch some ambient neighborhood noise in the evenings.

Top Floor Suite

Referenced in guest reviews as a top-floor room with a king-size bed, balcony, and a notably larger terrace. Beautifully furnished and the most requested room type. One reviewer described it as having a 'huge terrace' ideal for watching street life below. Not formally named as 'suite' on the current website but mentioned consistently across guest reviews.
