Why It Matters
It's one of the few genuinely design-forward hotels in Dijon, occupying a landmark Brutalist conversion directly opposite Saint-Bénigne Cathedral. The Michelin Guide singled it out for the quality of its transformation — the public spaces, patio, veranda, and multi-purpose restaurant and bar are as well-conceived as the rooms.
A former 1960s Brutalist insurance office, now one of Dijon's most fun places to sleep. Mama Shelter took this concrete block, put it directly across from the 14th-century Gothic Saint-Bénigne Cathedral, and turned it into 120 rooms full of color and local personality. The décor winks constantly at Burgundy — wine-region motifs on the carpets, Toile de Jouy patterns in the restaurant, a house-brand Dijon mustard made in collaboration with local producer Edmond Fallot — while architect Benjamin El Doghaïli replaced any trace of corporate minimalism with a warm, maximalist energy that actually works.

Running 21–33 m², this is where you actually have room to breathe. Same colorful Mama aesthetic, 5-star bedding, free movies, air con. The upper end of this size band gets genuinely spacious. Good upgrade if you're staying more than one night.

Four accessible rooms at 21 m², configured for guests with mobility requirements. Same design aesthetic and equipment as the standard Large Double.

The entry-level option at 16–21 m², so don't expect to do yoga in here. That said, the 5-star bedding is genuinely excellent, every room has a flat-screen TV with free on-demand movies, air conditioning, and wine-region motifs on the carpet. Compact but comfortable and well-designed.

Same size band as the Medium Double (18–21 m²) but configured as two separate beds. Good for friends traveling together or parents with an older child. Same kit as the Double: air con, free movies, private bath.
Twin · 19.5 sqmXXL Mama
Three rooms at 33–44 m² — the largest standard rooms in the hotel. Designed for two adults who want proper space. The top of the size range here rivals a junior suite at a conventional hotel.

Ten family rooms at 34–40 m², sleeping up to four adults. This is the one to book when traveling with kids. Plenty of space, same Mama design DNA, air con, and free movies that the children will immediately commandeer.
Double + Sofa Bed · 37 sqmXXL Mama Terrace
There's only one of these. A 40 m² room with a private terrace — the standout accommodation at the hotel. The terrace is a genuine selling point given the cathedral views available from this part of the building. Book early.
