Why It Matters
Opened 2024 as the first Mama Shelter on the Riviera. The interior design by Benjamin El Doghaïli pays serious homage to Nice's artistic history — pointillist carpets by Laureline Galliot, giant hangings by Kate Mary, frescoes referencing Matisse, Braque and Picasso. The rooftop pool is tiled by luxury brand Bisazza. Prices start around €90/night, which is remarkable on the Côte d'Azur.
Mama Shelter Nice landed on the Côte d'Azur in June 2024, occupying three historic buildings in the Riquier district — including one with a preserved early 20th-century façade. This is the brand's 11th French outpost and it does not try to blend in with the Riviera's white-tablecloth crowd. Think cosmic carpets, hand-painted frescoes inspired by Matisse and Picasso, neon 'Mama Loves You' signage, and Looney Tunes face masks on every bedside lamp. The 102 rooms are genuinely comfortable despite the theatrics, and the Bisazza-mosaicked rooftop pool is an early-evening destination in its own right.

A foosball table in the ground-floor restaurant area — a signature Mama Shelter touch found across all properties.
The ground-floor restaurant hosts daily live music and DJ sets. Sunday evenings feature a dedicated Super Sunday Live session. Regular guest artists and bands perform in the restaurant space, which has a dedicated stage. Check the calendar for specific acts.
Outdoor rooftop pool mosaiced by luxury brand Bisazza. 10m x 3m, 155cm deep. Non-heated. Open April 1–October 31, 10am–6pm. Exclusively for hotel guests — not open to outside visitors or restaurant customers. Max 25 people. No reservations needed.
Weekend brunch every Saturday and Sunday, 12:30–16:30, served in the ground-floor restaurant. Priced at €42 per person.
