Why It Matters

The Metropol Palace is the kind of hotel that makes Belgrade feel like a capital city. Built in 1957 and designed by architect Dragiša Brašovan, the building is a declared Serbian cultural monument — all white facade, monumental proportions, large stained glass window, and a mosaic that survived a major fire and two years of stalled renovation. It reopened in 2012 after a €40 million overhaul and hasn't looked back. Inside, 108 rooms and 128 suites wear a quietly upscale residential style, and the spa is genuinely one of the most complete in the Balkans.
