Why It Matters
Ibiza's oldest hotel — opened in 1933 and listed as a Bien de Interés Cultural since 2002 — now run by the Experimental Group, whose hospitality empire stretches from Paris to Venice. Dorothée Meilichzon's 2023 redesign kept the Art Deco bones and layered in bold Balearic character. The rooftop bar has arguably the best views in Ibiza Town: marina to one side, Dalt Vila floodlit on the other.
Ibiza's original hotel, opened in 1933, taken over by the Experimental Group in 2021 and redesigned from top to bottom by Paris-based interior designer Dorothée Meilichzon. It sits right on the pedestrianised Passeig de Vara de Rey, a five-minute walk from the Port and steps from the UNESCO-listed Dalt Vila fortress. The 33 rooms lean into cool, calming palettes with bursts of colour — pompoms, patterned fabrics, cosmic masks by Mallorcan artist Anna Alexandra. Think sophisticated Ibiza Town rather than either the club circuit or the rural finca scene.

Note: the Vara de Rey boulevard below can get noisy in the mornings, so light sleepers take heed.
