Avaton
Dramatic Cycladic architecture meets contemporary luxury design. Bold red accents against stark white, geometric lines carved into hillside rock, and an infinity pool that feels suspended between sky and sea. Cosmopolitan but calmer than the party-beach scene.
Return shuttle from Mykonos Town back to the hotel is complimentary; only the outbound transfer carries a nominal charge.
Why It Matters
Part of the homegrown, family-owned Myconian Collection (founded by George Daktylides, now run by his sons), Avaton is the crown property of the Elia Beach cluster. It has one of Mykonos's most photographed infinity pools, a full thalassotherapy spa using Augustinus Bader and Elemis products, and a fine dining restaurant where the executive chef visits suppliers at dawn. Rooms start at just 27 sqm but villas run to 200 sqm with private terraces and pools large enough to actually swim in.
Built into the bare rock high above Elia Beach — the longest fine sand beach on Mykonos — Myconian Avaton is the highest of three Myconian Collection properties clustered on this hillside, which explains the panoramic views and the sense of seclusion. The name references the sacred sanctuaries of the ancient world, accessible only to the initiated, and the hotel leans into that idea hard: 85 suites, villas, and rooms draped in Cycladic white and punches of signature red, nearly all with private pools or hot tubs, staring down at the Aegean. Mykonos Town is 11km away and reachable by a shuttle that runs regularly — close enough to dip into, far enough to feel genuinely removed from the circus.

Day trips on luxury power boats and yachts. Beach hop along the south coast, visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Delos, snorkel off Rhenia, or just sail into the sunset with cocktails. Jet skis and other options available on request.

Beginners' lessons through to beach canters, matched to your experience level and supervised by a professional riding instructor.
The hotel's signature infinity pool with views over Elia Beach and the Aegean. Avaton's design aesthetic frames the view with dramatic contrasts and signature red details. The pool lights up with constellations after dark. Poolside Kokkino bar serves all day.

Private and group yoga sessions at the hotel, plus exclusive location experiences: sunset yoga on the uninhabited island of Rhenia and full-moon yoga and meditation on the sacred island of Delos. All levels catered for.
Starts with a dawn trip to the local market and exclusive suppliers, then moves into a step-by-step private cooking class in the afternoon. You cook a Greek meal, then eat it with a Greek vintage selected by the sommelier. One of the more memorable things to do on the island.
Paired with a local professional photographer to visit scenic Mykonos locations. Either you're the subject and leave with professional shots, or you get behind the camera and learn skills. Tailored to preferences.
