Marseille
Bold, design-forward urban resort. The brand leans hard into Marseille's rough-around-the-edges 'canaille' identity — colorful, irreverent, and unapologetically loud in its design. Think 4,000 steel sardines dangling from the Sky Bar ceiling (a piece by British artist Frances Bromley), pop-art Tunnel Bar, and rain-effect showers with exclusive nhow-branded bath products.
The Sky Bar sardine chandelier is worth seeing even just for a drink — come at sunset for the full effect
Why It Matters
It's one of the very few hotels in Marseille with direct sea frontage and unobstructed Mediterranean views from most rooms. The outdoor pool is fed by the natural Roucas Blanc saltwater spring — sodium chloride and magnesium rich — which is genuinely unusual. The hotel also sits directly next to the Olympic marina used for the Paris 2024 sailing events, cementing its profile as a landmark property on the Corniche.
A 4-star design hotel built into the rocky coastline of the Corniche JF Kennedy, nhow Marseille was originally built in 1976 and completely gutted and redesigned in 2018 by architects Teresa Sapey, Claire Fatosme, and Christian Lefèvre. The result: 150 rooms in crisp white with splashes of yellow and blue, most with private balconies facing nothing but open Mediterranean. It sits about 4km south of the Old Port — accessible, but far enough that you actually hear the sea.
