Number 31
Bohemian modernist chic meets art deco Georgian. Eccentric, art-filled, intimate. Think jazz age flamboyance in the townhouse and pared-back 1960s cool in the mews. Firmly adult in atmosphere — no children or cribs.

Why It Matters
Originally the private home of Sam Stephenson, one of Ireland's most famous and divisive architects. The famed sunken lounge reportedly played host to names including Henry Kissinger and Charlie Haughey during Dublin's swinging sixties. Now Michelin-listed (2025). Delia's breakfast has won Georgina Campbell's Best Breakfast in Ireland award and draws guests back for return stays repeatedly.
Number 31 is two very different buildings sharing a secret garden in Dublin's most elegant postcode. Out front is a classic Georgian townhouse; at the back, a low-slung modernist mews that Sam Stephenson — Dublin's most controversial architect of the 1960s — converted from old stables in 1957 and made his personal bolthole. The sunken lounge he designed, all leather sofas and open fire, is still the centrepiece. No restaurant, no bar, no gym, no pool — but the breakfast cooked each morning by Delia is the stuff of genuine legend.
