Why It Matters

A 1920 Le Corbusier-designed villa perched on Capri's southern cliffs, with direct sightlines to the Faraglioni rock formations and the Bay of Marina Piccola. The building started life as a private retreat, served as an American military HQ during WWII (Eisenhower and Churchill both passed through), and opened as a hotel in 1973.
