Why It Matters
Jodhpur's first boutique hotel and the only one actually located inside the old walled city. Four heritage buildings dating from the late 18th to mid-19th century sit alongside contemporary structures, all united by the same iconic red sandstone. The hotel adopted and restored the long-submerged 18th-century Toorji Ka Jhalra stepwell next door and built the triple-decker Stepwell Café above it — both now landmarks. Over 70% of building materials were sourced within 30km, water is solar-heated, and single-use plastic has been banned since 2016.
RAAS is Jodhpur's original boutique hotel — the only one based inside the old walled city. Built around an 18th-century haveli and spread across four historic buildings and three modern additions, all constructed from local rose-red sandstone, it puts you directly in the shadow of Mehrangarh Fort. The design is deliberately cool and contemporary inside: monochromatic palettes, polished black terrazzo, and flashes of Jodhpur blue — contrasted by 18th-century carved stone panels and original arches from what were once stables and a family guesthouse. It's not a palace hotel. But it's arguably better positioned than any of them.

Four available at 737 sq ft on two levels, making this the most architecturally interesting mid-tier option. Good for couples who want more space and separation without jumping to Heritage Suite pricing. The split-level layout adds drama and privacy that a standard room can't replicate.

Garden Room
Same footprint as the Luxury Room at 481 sq ft, but these four ground-floor rooms open directly onto private grassy courtyard gardens rather than facing the fort. A better pick for families with young children or groups who want outdoor space and some privacy from the hotel's main flow. The trade-off: no fort views from your room itself, though the communal areas and pool more than compensate.

Heritage Suite
Set within the original 18th-century Rajput residence — the most historically significant part of the property. At 1,157 sq ft, these three suites have a large outdoor terrace, and the carved sandstone details and surviving architectural elements here are far more elaborate than in the contemporary wing. Rose-hued sandstone, jaali screens, and splashes of Brahmin blue give these rooms a quality the newer buildings can't match. Bathtub plus walk-in shower, balcony with fort and garden views.
KingLuxury Room
The core of RAAS's offer. 481 sq ft of clean, contemporary design with a private balcony looking directly at Mehrangarh Fort. The monochromatic palette — white walls, black terrazzo, polished concrete — is broken only by the hand-crafted red sandstone windows that filter Jodhpur's intense light into geometric patterns across the room. Bathrooms have both a walk-in shower and a full bath. Nespresso machine, minibar, laptop safe. All 28 keys in this category are well configured; ask for an upper floor for the best fort sightlines.
KingStepwell Suite
The hotel's flagship — one of a kind. At 1,250 sq ft with a master bedroom, kids' room, day-bed area, and kitchenette, it overlooks the restored 1740-built Toorji Ka Jhalra stepwell, Mehrangarh Fort, and the Blue City simultaneously. Black terrazzo flooring in the master bedroom transitions to pure white marble in the bathroom. Extensive alfresco seating in Jodhpur's rose-red sandstone. If you're going to splurge, this is the room — the views are genuinely unlike anything else in the city.
