Al Areen Palace Bahrain
Arabesque palace grandeur meets tropical garden sanctuary. Bone-white watchtowers, babbling conservatory waterfalls, hanging gardens, marble courtyards — but not stuffy. The butler-led service and curated arrival rituals (Arabic coffee, dates, olive oil soap from Jordan) give it warmth. It's the kind of place you book for a milestone, then can't quite bring yourself to leave.
The in-villa breakfast credit (12 BHD per person) lets you redeem your breakfast board poolside in your own villa — do this at least once
Why It Matters
The only all-villa hotel in Bahrain, holder of Two Michelin Keys, and winner of Condé Nast Traveler's Best New Hotel 2024. Every single one of the 78 units has a private pool and jacuzzi — there is no standard room here. It also has a resident palace botanist who tends the gardens and offers tours, and a curated art collection made entirely by Bahraini artists.
Bahrain's first and only all-villa property, Raffles Al Areen Palace opened in December 2023 in the desert village of Zallaq, 45 minutes south of Manama. All 78 private villas surround their own temperature-controlled pool and jacuzzi, dressed in mashrabiya latticework and horseshoe arches, with every surface touched by locally commissioned Bahraini art. Two Michelin Keys and a Condé Nast Traveler Best New Hotel of 2024 award confirm what guests already suspect: this place is serious.
