Rayavadee
Maximalist tropical seclusion. Thai-village-meets-jungle-luxury. Romantic, family-friendly, and genuinely wild — monkeys and exotic birds are regular uninvited guests.
Book The Grotto's Twilight Dinner Set Menu at least a day in advance — it requires a reservation before 18:00 hrs the day prior.
Why It Matters
One of Thailand's most famous boat-access-only resorts. The property is a founding member of the Enlive Foundation for Krabi's ecosystem protection, and its award-winning circular pavilion architecture is a genuine design landmark. The Grotto restaurant — set under an ancient limestone cliff on Phranang Beach — is alone worth the trip.
Rayavadee sits on 26 acres of the Phranang Peninsula, hemmed in by sheer limestone cliffs and three white-sand beaches — Phranang, Railay, and Nammao — all within Krabi Marine National Park. You can only get here by boat. That's not an inconvenience; it's the point. The resort's 94 two-storey pavilions and 7 villas are dotted through coconut groves and tropical gardens, their distinctive circular design built deliberately around existing trees so nothing had to be cut down.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Kayak through a pristine mangrove forest in the Krabi landscape. A quieter, slower alternative to speedboat trips — genuinely wild terrain.
Learn to dive from your own private dive boat or continue your certifications. Coral reefs and rainbow-coloured fish are on the doorstep.
Interactive experiences for children exploring Thai culture and the resort's natural surroundings. The 'Just for Kids' program keeps younger guests engaged while parents decompress.
Organized trips to the Emerald Pool, hot springs, Tiger Cave Temple (1,000 steps to the summit), and Krabi Town's morning market.
Guided hikes on jungle paths, including to a hidden lagoon and to waterfalls. The national park surrounding the resort has genuinely dense, biodiverse terrain.
Private instruction on the limestone rock walls that surround the resort. Railay Beach is one of the world's premier rock climbing destinations and Rayavadee sits right at the base of the cliffs.
The resort runs its own fleet of speedboats for day trips to Phi Phi Island (35 min away), Phang Nga Bay, and deserted beaches at sunset. Private charters or group excursions. Snorkeling and diving stops included.
Learn Thai cooking as a cultural immersion activity. Part of the resort's cultural pursuits program.
