Arun Bangkok
Heritage boutique, Chino-Colonial architecture, intimate river-facing property with an old-Bangkok atmosphere. Quiet and personal rather than flashy.

Why It Matters
Direct frontage on the Chao Phraya with an unobstructed view of Wat Arun from most rooms and the rooftop. The building's position at a river bend means Above Riva wraps around three sides of the building with panoramic views. Walking distance to Wat Pho, the Grand Palace, and Museum of Siam. Just 25 rooms means the staff know every guest by name.
A 25-room boutique hotel in a beautifully restored shophouse on the Chao Phraya riverbank, sitting directly opposite Wat Arun. The hotel is positioned at a bend in the river, so the rooftop restaurant Above Riva has three-sided water views. Chino-Colonial architecture throughout — carved teak, ornate ironwork, 250-thread count linen — and every room comes with a balcony. No pool, no gym, and the smallest rooms are genuinely compact. But for location in Bangkok's historic Rattanakosin district, nothing comes close.
