Why It Matters
The Salamlek Palace itself, originally built in 1892, is the real draw — it's a genuine royal residence restored and operating as a hotel within a 370-acre public park, steps from Montaza Palace. The Royal Suite was literally designed for Khedive Abbas Helmy II. Very few all-inclusive properties in the Mediterranean can claim that kind of bones.
Rixos Montaza Alexandria opened in January 2025 inside the historic Montaza Palace Gardens on the eastern edge of Alexandria, right on Al-Montaza Bay. The property is built around the restored Salamlek Palace — a late-19th-century Austro-Hungarian hunting lodge designed for Khedive Abbas Helmy II — paired with the newer King Fouad Lodges along the seafront. It runs Rixos' all-inclusive format across 326 rooms, suites, and villas plus 31 bungalows, spread across 61 hectares of royal gardens. Families and history buffs are the obvious audience, though the adults-only Salamlek Palace suites carve out a quieter, more intimate corner of the resort.
