A 24-room boutique hotel on a small river island in Bang Pa-in — about 45 minutes south of Bangkok — sala bang pa-in sits at the end of an iconic arched red footbridge that delivers one of the better hotel arrival moments in Thailand. The architecture references the local village rather than the nearby Summer Palace's ornate extravagance, but do not be fooled: rooms come with polished concrete floors and spa-like bathrooms, and 10 of the 24 units have their own private pools on the Chao Phraya. It opened in May 2021 as SALA Hospitality Group's fifth sala boutique property, and it remains the most quietly remote of the bunch — genuinely cut off from the street, genuinely peaceful.
