Wellness Resort & Spa
Minimalist tropical modernism meets serious Ayurvedic medicine. Think less resort-with-a-hammam, more a genuine healing institution that happens to look spectacular. Barefoot dining, digital detox, silence in the common areas. The architecture forces you to look outward at the forest and mountains rather than inward at a screen.

Why It Matters
Named to TIME Magazine's World's 100 Greatest Places, Tatler's 8 Best Spas in the World, Forbes' 25 Most Unusual Hotels, and Newsweek's Most Extraordinary Spas in the World 2026. It holds a Michelin Key (2025). It appeared in the Oscar nominees' gift bag in both 2025 and 2026 — Sri Lanka's only purpose-built wellness retreat to achieve this level of international recognition.
Sri Lanka's first purpose-built destination spa sits on a 116-acre former tea plantation at 2,800 feet in the central highlands, about an hour's winding mountain drive from Kandy. The architect-designed property deploys what it calls an 'architecture of silence' — stark concrete and glass pavilions oriented like cinemas toward sweeping valley and mountain views. No air conditioning in the chalets, no Wi-Fi in public spaces, and meals are customized to your Ayurvedic constitution. This is not a hotel with a spa bolted on. The wellness programming is the whole point.
