Ser Casasandra
Boho-chic bohemian meets spiritual retreat. Art-gallery meets beach house. Think gauze curtains rippling in the breeze, hammocks strung between palms, original artwork on every wall, and a resident raccoon named Bernardo who wanders the grounds. This is a place for the intentionally un-wired.

Why It Matters
One of the original hotels on Isla Holbox and still the most soulful. Sandra Pérez personally curated every object in the building, runs art residencies for the local community, and hosts the annual Yellow Festival — a two-month cultural season of exhibitions, live concerts, wellness retreats, and artist residencies. The Ahal Holistic Center is the first of its kind on the island. The restaurant has won the Comer, Amar y Contemplar Award of Excellence repeatedly.
Ser Casasandra is the passion project of Sandra Pérez Lozano, a Cuban-born visual artist and former music industry figure who landed on Holbox in the 1990s, fell for it, and never really left. What started as a personal home grew into an 18-room beachfront boutique hotel on Playa Norte — and it still feels more like a well-curated private house than a resort. No TVs. No telephones. No alarm clocks. Original artworks, Cuban antiques, Egyptian cotton, Indian linen, and hand-carved furniture fill every corner. The food is genuinely excellent (the New York Times noticed). The Ahal Holistic Center goes well beyond a hotel spa — think lymphatic drainage with cacao oil, biomagnetics, Mayan cleansing, and ancestral channeling.
