A 17th-century convent turned luxury hotel — one of the most storied properties in Latin America. Built in 1621 for the Poor Clares order, it later served as a hospital, prison, and medical school before opening as a hotel in 1995. Sofitel took over in 2012, elevating it to Legend status. The building retains original crypts, confessionals, wells, painted ceilings, and hidden windows throughout. Spread across two architectural wings — the older Colonial section and the more recent Republican area — it holds 126 rooms including 25 suites. Standard rooms start compact at 26 sqm, but the suites, particularly the 147 sqm Botero Presidential, are genuinely grand. Guests who've signed the book include Gabriel García Márquez, Mick Jagger, Shakira, Sting, Don Juan Carlos Borbón, and Fernando Botero himself.
