Why It Matters
Selected for both the Michelin Guide hotel collection and Tablet Hotels — the only art-focused boutique hotel in New Braunfels. The building itself dates to 1906 and carries a real sense of place; the new owners have leaned into that history rather than papering over it. The most compact room on property at 303 sq ft, but rich in history — it occupies what was once Captain Dr. Karbach's office in the early 1900s. Located right off the lobby on the mansion's primary floor. Dark masculine tones, nautical touches, walk-in shower. Good value entry point for the property.

Industrial sanctuary in the historic carriage house — just steps from the pool. Ground-floor, easy parking access, and the most pet-friendly room on property (dogs up to 50 lbs welcome). Walk-in shower rather than soaking tub. Great for guests who want to be closest to the outdoor spaces.

Main floor suite with calming green walls and direct views of the pool courtyard. Botanical and European in feel, with classic finishes and accessible ground-floor location. The soaking tub makes it a strong romantic option despite the more modest footprint.

Sophie's partners with West Chelsea Contemporary in Austin to bring rotating art exhibitions throughout the property. The collection spans urban art and inherited treasures. Art changes regularly and is curated to be intimate and approachable rather than gallery-formal.
Heated outdoor pool in the private courtyard, open daily 9 AM–10 PM. Hot tub heated daily from 4 PM–10 PM. Pool towels available in the carriage house. Lounge seating and lush courtyard gardens surround the area.
