Cape Town
Heritage grandeur meets modern luxury. Indian hospitality DNA layered over South African colonial architecture. Formal but not stuffy — business travellers and leisure guests both feel at home.

Why It Matters
The building itself — formerly the South African Reserve Bank and the Board of Executors — is the real talking point. The original bank vault is now an event space, and the restored banking hall houses the Lobby Bar. The Bombay Brasserie is one of Cape Town's few genuinely acclaimed Indian fine-dining restaurants. And the Presidential Suite spans two floors (16th and 17th) with its own fire pit.
Taj Cape Town occupies the restored former South African Reserve Bank building — think marble stonework, fluted columns, high ceilings, and Art Deco touches layered over a century of civic gravitas. The bank's original vault is now a ballroom. A modern glass tower rises from the heritage shell, and its rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies looking straight at Table Mountain. It's a proper city-centre hotel: 176 rooms, two restaurants, a well-regarded spa, and a location right at the top of the St. George's Mall pedestrian district — walkable to Company's Garden, Long Street, and most of the CBD.
