Order the Buransh cocktail at Panorama Bar — it's made from local Himalayan rhododendron blossoms and completely unique to the region.

Why It Matters

Named to the 2020 Condé Nast Traveler Hot List. Rare combination of genuine Garhwali architectural vernacular with full Taj-level service. Positioned 30 km from Rishikesh town proper, giving it a seclusion the city itself lacks. Every room has an unobstructed river or mountain view — no exceptions. EarthCheck certified.

Taj Rishikesh sits 30 km upriver from Rishikesh town in the tiny village of Singthali, on 12.5 acres of terraced hillside directly above the Ganges. Built from locally sourced stone, slate, timber and wood, the architecture draws from Garhwali village design and Himalayan temple forts — jaali screens, warm fireplaces and curated antiques throughout. Every one of the 79 rooms and villas faces the river or the mountains. It's a properly eco-certified luxury resort that takes wellness seriously: daily yoga at the pavilion, a nightly Ganga Aarti on the private pebble beach, and a 1,858 sq m J Wellness Circle spa.
