Johor 2 has sea views and stunning sunset sightlines over the pool — worth requesting specifically

Why It Matters

Michelin Guide-listed property with a completely unique concept: real historic Malaysian houses physically relocated and rebuilt on-site, each representing a different state, culture, and era. No two rooms or houses are remotely alike. The Straits House is the only room with a private pool.

Eight antique Malaysian houses — ranging from 80 to 120 years old — were dismantled from their original locations across Peninsular Malaysia and painstakingly reassembled on a single property near Pantai Cenang. The result feels more like a small historic neighbourhood than a resort: a Johor Chinese farmhouse sits beside a Penang colonial building, a Negri Sembilan kampung house, and a grand Plantation dwelling, all connected by tropical gardens and two swimming pools. It's a genuinely one-of-a-kind concept, and the Michelin Guide has taken notice.

Colonial House (Whole House or Individual Suites)

A very large 1920s Penang structure built by Arab goldsmith traders. Think European cornices, Peranakan floor tiles, and a fish-scale canopy over the porch. The ground floor features a massive living hall with a bar and a 10-seater dining table — perfect for a private gathering of up to 20. Two ground-floor suites (Colonial 1 & 2) have separate entrances, private gardens, and wooden bathtubs. Upstairs, Colonial 3 is a large open bedroom-living space with a wooden bathtub. Colonial 4 is the showpiece: a shutter veranda, separate living space, and two ensuite bedrooms.

Heritage Villa Suite

Johor House (Johor 1 & Johor 2)

A Chinese farmhouse built roughly 100 years ago in Batu Pahat, Johor — and this one has travelled the furthest to get here. Taiwanese design influences show in the details. The pink exterior is hard to miss. Two suites, one on each floor, each with two bedrooms, large verandas on three sides, wooden bathtubs, rainshower bathrooms, and jaw-dropping pool and mountain views. Johor 2 (upstairs) has sea views and sunsets. Johor 1 (downstairs) features a private bar room and a movie projection room.

A self-contained Malay kampung house built in the 1940s in Mantin, Negri Sembilan. Its most striking feature: beautiful coloured stained-glass windows set against an original black-and-white exterior. Inside, a living and dining area flows to a spacious front veranda — quiet and private. One grand bedroom with a wooden bathtub, plus an adjoining room with two single beds. Ideal for couples who want the whole house to themselves, or small families.
