Why It Matters

One of the few genuinely characterful independent boutiques in Bath — owned by Ian and Christa Taylor, part of the Kaleidoscope Hotels group, and the official luxury hotel partner of Bath Rugby. The hotel sits on Pulteney Road with direct views of Bath Abbey and the Recreation Ground, and is a member of both Mr & Mrs Smith and Tablet Hotels.

A Victorian mansion built in 1868 on Pulteney Road, The Bird makes a deliberate break from Bath's usual Georgian restraint. Bold hand-crafted wallpaper, bird prints, chandeliers, and art around every corner — it's a boutique with genuine character. The 29 rooms look out across Bath Abbey and the Recreation Ground, and the grill restaurant buzzes with locals and rugby fans alike.
