The Byron Dubrovnik
Owner-operated literary boutique. White-on-white interiors with warm historic bones — exposed stonework beneath modern finishes. Calm and residential rather than hotel-slick. The owners live and breathe Dubrovnik, and it shows in every recommendation they give.

Why It Matters
Listed on both Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels. One of the few places inside the Old Town walls that genuinely feels quiet — the building's layout spreads laterally rather than stacking one room per floor, so noise and foot traffic stay minimal. The proximity to Buza beach (40m) is rare for in-walls accommodation.
A 7-room boutique townhouse tucked behind Dubrovnik's Cathedral, inside the UNESCO Old Town walls, on one of the quieter back streets. The building was in the same family for over 80 years before a full renovation completed in 2018. No restaurant, no pool, no spa — but Buza beach is literally 40 meters from the front door, the rooms are genuinely spacious by Old Town standards, and the owners know this city cold. Ranked #3 Best Hotel in Dubrovnik by The Times in 2024.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The entire Byron (7 rooms, sleeps 14) can be booked for creative workshops, retreats, or events inside the UNESCO Old Town. Partners with KAWA for co-working and design-related programming.
The concierge curates day-trip itineraries to nearby destinations: Cavtat by boat, Mostar in Bosnia, Kotor in Montenegro, and the islands of Mljet and Sipan by speedboat.
The Byron works with local guides for Dubrovnik Old Town history tours and Game of Thrones filming location tours. Arranged via the concierge.
The Byron partners with Sea Fun Dubrovnik (boatingdubrovnik.com) for private speedboat day trips — island-hopping, sea caves, secluded beaches. The concierge arranges everything. Recommended operator is Josko Leoni.
The famous Buza cliff bars and swimming coves are just 40 meters from the Byron's front door. Guests can grab beach towels from reception and jump in before the crowds arrive in summer.
The concierge can arrange private wine tasting experiences in the region. Croatia's Dalmatian coast has a strong local wine culture — Plavac Mali is the grape to look for.
Amenities & Practical Info
The details that matter for planning.
Access to co-working table at 'Life According to KAWA' — a Croatian design boutique and specialty coffee shop (Cogito Coffee) partnered with the Byron. There's also a secret back room with specialty food ingredients.
High-speed Wi-Fi throughout the property. Speeds are reliable enough for remote work.
Beach towels available for guests heading to Buza beach (40m away) or on boat trips.
All rooms stocked with Molton Brown bath products, amenity kits, slippers, robes, and fluffy towels.
In-room laptop-sized safe in every room.
All rooms have air conditioning for the summer months.
All rooms have underfloor heating, making the Byron genuinely comfortable during Dubrovnik's cooler and wetter winter months — a real differentiator from many old stone-walled properties in the area.
Induction stovetop, microwave, tea kettle, and French press in most rooms (all except the Attic Room, which has a mini fridge and kettle only). Great for self-catering and extended stays.
Secure garage near Buza gate, 2 minutes' walk away. Entry via keypad code sent prior to arrival. €50 per day payable in cash on arrival. Book in advance — it's limited but significantly cheaper than public parking (€220/day).
No on-site gym. The city walls walk (2km) is the most popular morning workout in Dubrovnik.
The Byron does not have a pool. Buza beach is 40 meters away.
Daily housekeeping available on request between 10am–12 noon. Hang the sign before 10am. Nobody enters the room without permission otherwise.
Full concierge service from the owners, who have lived and worked in Dubrovnik for 20+ years. They'll book restaurants, arrange tours, organize private boat charters, and advise on when to avoid cruise-ship crowds.
Luggage storage available for guests.
