Why It Matters

The first Minneapolis hotel to combine genuine art programming (gallery, curated room art) with a true boutique experience. Historically a Le Méridien with a Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant; now independently operated by MCR Hotels with a fresh identity. The 1,100-square-foot Spotlight Suite penthouse with its 555-square-foot wraparound terrace is arguably the city's most dramatic hotel room. Skyway access steps from the door means you can reach Target Center, Target Field, and U.S. Bank Stadium without braving the cold.

The Chambers Hotel sits on the corner of 9th and Hennepin in Minneapolis's historic theater district, directly across from the Orpheum. Built in 1908, it opened as a hotel in 2006 and spent years as a Le Méridien before MCR Hotels rebranded it as an independent property. The 60-room boutique packs a genuine design punch — custom artwork in every room, a Burnet Art Gallery on-site, a 3,000-square-foot rooftop lounge, and a lush courtyard with a fire pit. Travel + Leisure called it 'the best introduction to Minneapolis's art, music, and theater.'

Hennepin Suite

Named for its address. The living room and 1.5 bathrooms give this suite genuine spread-out-and-stay-awhile space, and the heated bathroom floors are a small luxury that registers every time you step out of the shower. Dramatic views of Hennepin Avenue included.

Spotlight Suite

The penthouse. At 1,100 square feet with a 555-square-foot wraparound terrace, it's the hotel's showstopper — floor-to-ceiling windows, 1.5 bathrooms with double vanity and deep soaking tub, a proper living room with a wet bar, and a front-row view of the Orpheum Theatre and Hennepin Avenue. Not subtle.
