Why It Matters

A registered historic building (former captain's house) that once showed up in Jaws, now reimagined with mid-century modern and French Caribbean flair by Lark Hotels. Out front stands what's said to be the oldest pagoda tree in the US, brought from China in a pot centuries ago. The location on South Water Street is genuinely walkable to Edgartown Harbor, shops, and restaurants.

The Christopher is a 15-room boutique inn inside a registered historic building — a former sea captain's house — on South Water Street in Edgartown. Previously called The Victorian, it got a full makeover that swapped out the traditional New England look for something more spirited: think aqua wallpaper, geometric prints, and bursts of coral that nod more toward St. Barts than Cape Cod. The result is a B&B-style stay with genuinely stylish bones, complimentary breakfast included, and Edgartown Harbor just outside the front door.
