Why It Matters
Only National Historic Landmark hotel in Tennessee. Jean-Georges Vongerichten operates both on-site restaurants here — his first American South outpost. The hotel was the literal headquarters for both pro- and anti-suffrage factions during the 1920 ratification vote for the 19th Amendment. A who's-who of notable past guests: Presidents Taft, Wilson, Kennedy, Nixon, Johnson, Carter, Clinton, and Bush; celebrities from Babe Ruth to Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline.
Nashville's original million-dollar hotel, open since 1910 and the only property in Tennessee to hold National Historic Landmark status. Hermitage Suite
The hotel's flagship suite at 1,500 square feet. Separate king bedroom, formal living room, library, powder room, butler's pantry, and a full dining table for 6–8 guests. Sweeping views of downtown Nashville and the State Capitol. Option to add a connecting guest suite — ideal for families or friend groups.
