The Johri, Jaipur
Maximalist heritage-chic. Think candy-hued rooms, hand-painted floral murals, intricate latticework screens, marquetry vanities with camel-bone inlays, and tiger-shaped chairs — all set inside a 150-year-old haveli with original arched galleries. Intimate like a private home but polished like a serious hotel.
The restaurant operates two dinner sittings — confirm your slot at check-in to avoid being asked to give up your table mid-meal
Why It Matters
Michelin Key recipient in 2025 (listed #93 on World's 50 Best Hotels), winner of Condé Nast Traveller's India's Best Boutique Hotel 2024, and home to a restaurant that has won CNT's Top Restaurant Award three consecutive years (2023, 2024, 2025). Only five suites — and they're almost always full.
The Johri sits inside Lal Haveli, a 19th-century merchant's mansion in the heart of Jaipur's Johri Bazaar, opened as a hotel in 2020. Five suites, each named after a gemstone and decorated in its corresponding color, look out over a quiet traditional courtyard — a genuine refuge from the lane chaos just outside. This is a joint venture between restaurateur Abhishek Honawar and jeweler Siddharth Kasliwal of the legendary Gem Palace, designed by New York-based Naina Shah, who commissioned local artisans to build custom furniture, paint murals, and weave cane light fittings throughout.
