The Kindler Hotel
Art deco boutique with a modern neo-classical edge. Think dark marble, wind-chime chandeliers, cowhide bar stools, and locally commissioned art. Polished but not stuffy — the Midwest hospitality keeps it warm.
Boitano's Lounge is open to the public — a solid stop even if you're not staying at the hotel
Why It Matters
Lincoln's first and only independent boutique hotel. The Brian Boitano bar program and cocktail menu are genuinely distinctive. Ken Kindler's copper sculptures displayed in the lobby give it a personal origin story no chain hotel can replicate. During Husker football weekends, this is the most sought-after address in downtown Lincoln.
Lincoln's only boutique hotel opened in 2019 inside a building that includes the historic 1925 Commercial Building. The whole place is a personal tribute — named after Ken Kindler, a Nebraska welder and industrial artist who was the father of co-owner Brooke Castaneda. His copper sculptures anchor the lobby, and Beverly Hills designer Ross Vincent built out the rest: art deco bones, taupe and sand tones, channeled headboards, and a general vibe that feels more West Coast than Great Plains. Boitano's Lounge — yes, that Brian Boitano — runs the food and cocktail program, which gives the hotel a dining anchor that's genuinely worth going to.

How you'll actually spend your days.
On Husker home game days, the hotel operates a Cadillac Escalade shuttle service to and from Memorial Stadium and throughout downtown Lincoln. A genuine perk that removes the parking headache on game weekends.
The hotel's proximity (0.6 miles) to Memorial Stadium, game-day cocktail menus at Boitano's Lounge, and the Escalade shuttle make it the anchor of a full Husker football weekend. The hotel has offered exclusive multi-year membership packages guaranteeing rooms for every home game, champagne Sunday brunches, and transport.
Ken Kindler's copper sculptures are on permanent display in the lobby. The broader hotel doubles as a curated contemporary art space, with modern pieces throughout the property.
