Book the Skybox Loft specifically for the balcony and 180-degree city views — guests consistently single it out

Why It Matters

Awarded one Michelin Key. Designed by Sean MacPherson (Bowery, Marlton, Maritime). Home to Dirty French, a Major Food Group/Chef Rich Torrisi restaurant that's a genuine destination for non-hotel guests too. The Skybox Loft rooms have 180-degree Manhattan views with a balcony.

The Ludlow sits on the Lower East Side where it belongs — a 175-room boutique hotel in a building that looks like it always stood here, all solid brick façade and factory-style casement windows. It's from the same family as the Bowery Hotel, the Marlton, and the Maritime, so there's real DNA at work: rooms that are open and bright, vintage styling that feels historically rooted but not dusty, and public spaces you actually want to linger in. The lobby lounge has a distressed limestone fireplace, marble mosaic floors, leather armchairs, and a trellis-covered garden. Then there's Dirty French downstairs, one of New York's better French bistros, which was reason enough to book a room here before any of the design details even came up.
