Book the Queen Deluxe over the standard Queen if you can — the extra 25 sq ft genuinely matters

Why It Matters

Restored by hotelier Sean MacPherson (The Jane, The Bowery Hotel) and opened in 2013. The building dates to 1900 and once hosted Jack Kerouac, Julie Andrews, and Lenny Bruce. The French-influenced redesign layers Paris over Greenwich Village history in a way that actually works — and a 2025 mural by artist Cecily Brown in Chez Nous makes the restaurant a destination in its own right.

The Marlton is Sean MacPherson's love letter to bohemian Greenwich Village — a century-old building turned into a 107-room boutique hotel that wears its history proudly. The self-described 'Baby Grand Hotel' gets the aesthetic exactly right: herringbone floors, brass fixtures, crown moldings, and marble bathrooms that feel plucked from a pre-war Paris apartment. Jack Kerouac wrote 'The Subterraneans' and 'Tristessa' here. Today it's digital nomads around the fireplace and the post-work-drinks crowd spilling into Chez Nous, the ground-floor French brasserie.
