The Okura Prestige Taipei sits in Taipei's Zhongshan/Nanjing commercial district — the part of the city historically tied to Japanese business and embassy culture. Opened August 2012, the 18-floor, 207-room glass tower is Japan's Okura Hotels translated into Taipei: clean lines, 3-meter ceilings, wood floors, marble bathrooms, and a quiet seriousness that says 'we're not trying to impress you with flash.' Two of its in-house restaurants hold Michelin stars — Toh-Ka-Lin (2 stars, Cantonese) and Yamazato (1 star, Japanese) — which is genuinely exceptional for a single hotel.
