Pre-book the thermal suite — it's complimentary for hotel guests but fills up fast and advance booking is strongly recommended

Why It Matters

Oxford's oldest hotel and a genuine city landmark since 1864. Holds 2 AA Rosettes for dining. The Morse Bar is iconic — Inspector Morse author Colin Dexter was a regular and reportedly wrote parts of his novels here. Now part of Hilton's Graduate portfolio, with full Hilton Honors integration since 2024.

Oxford's oldest continuously operating hotel — built in 1864, still going strong on Beaumont Street opposite the Ashmolean Museum. The Gothic Victorian exterior is exactly what you'd expect from an Oxford landmark. Inside, though, Graduate Hotels turned the dial up: bold colour, velvet bedsteads, opulent Alice in Wonderland wallpaper, and a bar named for a fictional detective. It's classic English grandeur with a maximalist, slightly irreverent edge.
