Why It Matters
First Ritz-Carlton in Australia; exceptional sense of place through architecture, materials, art, and cuisine — everything references WA's geography and culture. The open-fire Hearth Restaurant, rooftop Songbird Bar with Swan River sunset views, and a spa with Japanese-influenced vitality pools make this more than a standard luxury hotel.
A 28-story tower right on Elizabeth Quay waterfront, The Ritz-Carlton Perth was the first Australian property from the brand and still stands as Perth's most polished luxury address. All 205 rooms face either the Swan River or the city skyline through floor-to-ceiling windows, and the building itself is a statement — pink-and-yellow tinted glass inspired by Argyle diamonds and southern WA beach sands, designed by Cottee Parker Architects with a curved form that cuts wind noise. Inside, designer Anna Flanders went with what she calls 'natural luxe': 10,000 pieces of Kimberley sandstone on the walls, a chandelier of 275 tubes echoing Karijini waterfalls, a concierge desk built from 100-year-old South West jarrah, and Indigenous artwork throughout. The result feels rooted in place in a way that most luxury hotels simply don't.
