Afternoon Tea requires advance booking — sometimes weeks ahead. The 11:30am sitting is quietest; the 7:30pm evening slot with the piano trio is the most atmospheric

Why It Matters

The only hotel in the UK to hold a Royal Warrant (for banqueting and catering services), awarded first by King Charles III when he was Prince of Wales. The Ritz Restaurant just received its second Michelin star (2025 Guide) and was simultaneously named UK Restaurant of the Year by the National Restaurant Awards 2025. The Ritz is also one of the few remaining London hotels to offer dinner-and-dancing with a live full band on weekends.

The Ritz opened in 1906 on Piccadilly and hasn't really stopped being London's benchmark for formal luxury since. The building is a French neoclassical statement — designed by Charles Mewès and Arthur Davis — with Louis XVI interiors, ornate fireplaces, gilded chandeliers, and antique furnishings that have barely changed in 120 years. Rates start at £960 a night, which buys you 38 square metres of marble bathrooms and staff who know your name before you reach the lift. The restaurant earned its second Michelin star in 2025 and was named UK Restaurant of the Year by the National Restaurant Awards the same year.
