The Ruby Hotel
Midcentury modern with a warm, independent personality. Color-saturated rooms, Tivoli radios on the nightstands, a bar that pays homage to 1960s cocktail and jazz culture. It feels like a stylish friend's lake house more than a conventional hotel.
Request a first-floor room if stairs are a concern — the hotel has no elevator.
Why It Matters
The whole place is named after a love letter the owners found on the property in 2016, addressed to a 'Dearest Ruby.' That origin story shapes the whole vibe — intentional, sentimental, and design-driven. It's one of the few genuinely independent boutique properties in the greater Austin area, and it's listed on Tablet Hotels. The creek views from every single balcony are the real draw.
A 39-room creekside boutique in Round Rock, about 20 miles north of downtown Austin. The property sits on three acres overlooking Brushy Creek, surrounded by century-old live oak trees. The modern hotel buildings were designed and constructed around the perimeter of the land to preserve the 180-degree water views, while the original 1960s house on-site was converted into the Ruby Bar, still with its original oven hood intact.
