The St. Regis Florence
Grand palazzo luxury meets Renaissance art obsession. Butler service, sabrage rituals, a tea sommelier, and a wine cellar with 300+ labels. Formal but warm, and genuinely historic — Queen Victoria slept here, as did Leland Stanford Jr. (yes, that Stanford). Madonna filmed a music video out front in 2012.
Ask for an Arno River view room — not all rooms face the river, and the difference is worth the upgrade
Why It Matters
One of the oldest continuously operating grand hotels in Florence, housed in a Brunelleschi-designed palace. The Art Deco Winter Garden, designed by Enzio Giovannozzi around 1922, and the French-influenced Salone delle Feste ballroom are architectural landmarks in their own right. Won Condé Nast Traveler Spain's Best Hotel in Europe in 2025.
A 15th-century Florentine palazzo — originally projected by Brunelleschi and recorded by Giorgio Vasari — sitting right on the Arno River with views across to the Ponte Vecchio. The St. Regis Florence holds 80 rooms and 19 suites across four floors, each decorated in one of three palette schemes: Medici, Fiorentino, or Renaissance. Rooms feature hand-carved gold leaf plaques, crystal chandeliers, custom frescoes, and locally sourced fabrics. No pool, but the location is exceptional: walk to the Uffizi in 15 minutes, and the Ponte Vecchio in 10.
