The first new hotel on Hamilton Island in nearly two decades, and the only upscale family-focused option on the island (qualia doesn't allow kids under 16). Josh and Julie Niland's Catseye Pool Club is reason enough to book.
The first new hotel to open on Hamilton Island since qualia in 2007, The Sundays occupies the site of the island's original 1990 lodge — completely reimagined by local designer Carrie Williams into 59 contemporary rooms. It sits at the northern end of Catseye Beach with direct Coral Sea views, a guest-only pool, and a signature restaurant run by acclaimed Sydney chef duo Josh and Julie Niland. This is the rare place that's genuinely good for families without feeling like a waterpark.

Elevated private balcony with panoramic views over Catseye Bay and the Coral Sea. King bed or twin singles plus a single divan trundle — works well for a small family. Freestanding bathtub and rain shower in the bathroom, kitchenette with Nespresso, microwave and a child-friendly minibar. Air conditioning plus ceiling fan for the balmy evenings. 50m² is compact but very well designed.

Wheelchair-accessible version of the Balcony room. Wide wardrobe entry, lowered basin, support rails, adjustable shower — note there is no freestanding bath. Hoist available on request. Two standard Balcony rooms joined by an internal interconnecting door — effectively double the space for larger families. Two king beds (or four singles), two single divans, two full bathrooms each with freestanding tubs. Maximum six guests (four adults plus two children 3–12 years, plus up to two infants in cots). The interconnecting door means you can have family time or adult time on demand.
