The Sundays
Breezy coastal boutique with a Whitsundays-inspired palette of cool aquas, lush greens, sand-toned tiles and blonde timber. Think relaxed but refined — yoga mats in the rooms, rattan chairs by the pool, artwork by First Nations artist Tiarna Herczeg throughout. Not stuffy. Not a theme park. Just clean, warm Australian design that knows when to get out of the way of the view.

Why It Matters
The first new hotel on Hamilton Island in nearly two decades, and the only upscale family-focused option on the island (qualia doesn't allow kids under 16). Josh and Julie Niland's Catseye Pool Club is reason enough to book.
The first new hotel to open on Hamilton Island since qualia in 2007, The Sundays occupies the site of the island's original 1990 lodge — completely reimagined by local designer Carrie Williams into 59 contemporary rooms. It sits at the northern end of Catseye Beach with direct Coral Sea views, a guest-only pool, and a signature restaurant run by acclaimed Sydney chef duo Josh and Julie Niland. This is the rare place that's genuinely good for families without feeling like a waterpark.
