Dallas
Midcentury modern with a Texas edge — walnut, brass, and leather throughout, art-forward lobby, and a nightlife scene that keeps the building buzzing past midnight.

Why It Matters
The largest historic preservation project in Texas, housed in a 1965 bank tower. Monarch on the 49th floor is run by two-Michelin-star chef Danny Grant. The North Penthouse Suite holds the first Hästens Dreamer luxury bed in the state of Texas.
Thompson Dallas occupies the former First National Bank Tower — a 51-story midcentury modernist landmark that's been standing since 1965 and reborn as The National. The rooms average over 425 sq ft (some of the largest in downtown Dallas), the lobby reads more like an art gallery than a hotel check-in, and the top two floors are home to Monarch, a Michelin-starred Italian wood-fire kitchen, and Kessaku, a sake lounge. It's got a 2-acre 9th-floor pool deck, a full-service spa with plunge pools and barrel sauna, and four distinct restaurants — making it feel more resort than business hotel, despite sitting steps from the DART Akard Station.
