Thorngrove Manor
Gothic romantic fantasy meets museum-quality antique collection. Over-the-top in the best possible way — think vaulted painted ceilings, French tapestries, stone spiral staircases, and C18th sterling silver on the dinner table.

Why It Matters
Michelin 2 Keys recipient (2024). Former Small Luxury Hotels of the World member for 28 years, scoring 96.4% on its final mystery inspection before going independent. Routinely cited as one of Australia's most unique and romantic small hotels. The entire property is operated solely by the owners. Accommodation is so limited — one couple at a time — that absolute privacy is a structural guarantee, not a marketing claim.
Thorngrove Manor is a hand-built fantasy castle perched in the Adelaide Hills — real turrets, rough stone walls, heraldic carvings, and rooms stuffed with 18th and 19th century European antiques. The owners, Kenneth and Nydia Lehmann, built it obsessively from scratch and still run it themselves. Here is the thing: they only accept one couple at a time. You will never see another guest. Ever.
