Why It Matters

The Grade II listed North Warehouse at Stanley Dock was part of the largest historic dock system in the world. The subterranean Maya Blue Wellness spa under red-brick arches is legitimately atmospheric.
Set inside Stanley Dock's former North Warehouse — a Grade II listed Victorian brick hulk dating to 1855 — the Titanic Hotel opened in 2014 and is one of the most architecturally striking hotels in the north of England. Exposed brickwork, original steel columns, concrete vaulted ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling original windows are the bones of the place. The 153 rooms are huge by any standard, starting at 56sqm. But it's not just a heritage flex: the spa is genuinely good, the bar has over 60 rums, and the restaurant works for a quick lunch or a proper three-course evening.
